Digital learning transformation starts with ecosystem architecture: what the ecosystem must look like in five years, and which decisions today enable or foreclose it.
By the time a platform question reaches a shortlist, the decisions that actually determine the outcome have usually already been made by default.
The decisions that come first
- What the learner record is, who owns it, and where it lives when a vendor changes.
- Which systems must agree on identity, and what happens when they disagree.
- What the organisation must be able to prove, to whom, and how often.
Answer those and the platform shortlist narrows on its own. Skip them and the platform becomes the architecture, which is how organisations end up rebuilding every four years.
